Cuban specialities

Rum is one of the most important Cuban products:

It can be drunk straight - for example, the brown, five to seven year old Añejo - or be used as the basis for delicious cocktails.

The first large distilleries were built in Cuba in the middle of the 19th century and rum is still distilled there from the sugar cane remains today. When visiting Havana you should definitely visit the rum museum "Fundacíon Havana Club". It is directly adjacent to the harbour on the Avenida del Puerto. The story of the worldwide famous drink is explained here very clearly. Guided tours in German are also available.

Ernest Hemingway made the bars in Havana's old town famous: the Bodeguita del Medio for the Mojito and the Bar El Floridita for the Daiquiri. But you can also enjoy exotic creations with real Cuban rum in the hotel bars.
